Weary Bones

this was written for the #dverse promp on monday 18th jan 2021 suggesting we use a line from a poem by mary oliver. the line fitted with an idea of trying to write a piece from the point of view of a medical proffesional during the difficult timess we find ourselves in. stay safe all and please take care of the carers.

#dverse

Sometimes the great bones of my life feel so heavy. Between earth and sky in the burnt orange horizon my mind says goodbye. But this is my last sunset! Life just is rose tinted or whiskey hazed, just depending on the company you keep.

My weary bones sometimes heavy with a duty of care to the rest of humanity. Aching for release from the love in my heart. When those in my care get to the other side of the corona virus, their families rejoice but forget about me.

Every time I lose a patient the great bones of my life crumble to dust. I can never view my time as an intensive care nurse through rose tinted specs. The golden glow the world shows is whiskey coloured!

As I stand atop the hospital wanting to jump!

Save our medical staff from weary bones!

GETTING CAUGHT

Getting caught., BREAKING LOCKDOWN

Here we are behind steamy windows!

Doing the unspeakable naughty,

Breaking taboos of good taste,

Hidden away from the law enforcers,

Behind our vehicle’s steamy windows,

NO body knows what happens here,

 Behind these steamy windows,

The cars back seat littered,

with the mess of broken taboos.

Bang!

The doors swing open,

Guns pointing,

Law enforcers shouting,

Hands and fore arms

Grease covered

From taboo fast food

Wrappers on backseat

And steamy windows

Condemn us

To prison time for food indecency

But ohhhh so worth it.

watching out the window from work today as I sat eating lunch. i saw car parked up outside with the windows steamed up. my imagination took me to this poem of what i thought might be behind those steamed up windows. #lockdownlife

ready for open mic nght(when it happens again)

This is not a pad and pen…..

#dversepub

This pad and pen helps me escape dro the drudgery of factory life.

This pen the key, this pad the door.

Together they are a porthole to anywhere.

Poems of love, hate and hearts lost.

Stories of princesses kidnapped by ogres.

Songs sung by musicians, making the world dance.

Giving words to actors to share on this world’s stages.

Even taking rocket ship rides to worlds unchareted.

Tgis pad and pen can take you anywhere your imagination dare goes.

Rituals

#liquid #FOWC

We all have them,
Two stirs right three stirs left,
Cream swirling to the left in coffee,
Like scars in your mind,
Of the life we all must live.

Howling at the moon,
When the predator cancer,
Has had your loved ones,
Unable to keep up your urban front,
Without the ritual of morning coffee.

Freedom from the coffee,
Freedom from the grief,
Freedom from all the baggage,
Dreaming in red while I sleep alone,
Mono mind one level lonely.

Mevagissy town for the smugglers,
With George Moorland and his wreckers,
Up against all smugglers and,
The gargoyles of their minds.

Alone at midnight with the fire,
On the sandy beach crabs cooking,
Dinner almost ready, mind
Trying to catch up to the change,
Of pace from city living to loving,
Every moonrise over fire lit beaches.

morning coffee

this is one of my older pieces origanly posted on my all poetry account about three years ago.

when i spotted the prompt “liquid” on #FOWC this morning i thought of coffee then remembered this piece.
