Draco last words

#dverse

thank you Laura for hosting #Dversepub this evening with words of departure. I have been wondering how to say goodbye to Draco and Persephone. your prompt reminded me of Roy Batty’s last words “All moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.” atop that rain soaked roof.

Blade Runner is a favourite film of mine, thank you Ridley Scott and co. and thank yo Phillip K Dick for the book it was based upon.

Dear Persephone,

A reminder of how we met,

watching the mighty,

 Blade Runner,

in a dark room smellingโ€™

of sweat and popcorn.

โ€œAll those moments

 will be lost,

In time,

Like tears in rainโ€.

Said Roy Batty

Atop that roof.

Since I lost you,

To the last sunrise,

Trapped by chance,

That is all I hear,

Your voice in the rain.

So, atop this roof,

I stand passive and alone,

 In the Morningโ€™s rain,

Without you I,

Cannot be,

I leave this behind,

As I wait to,

feel the last,

Ray of sun to,

 touch my face.!!!

Together forever,

DRACO

Ekphrastic beach. #poem

Tonight’s’ prompt has me wishing for the beach on a summer night, star gazing.

Tonight Merril @dversepub chose to have a summer Ekphrastic evening. I have chosen two prompts from her choices a picture titled Summer Day and a line from the poem “summer stars” by Carl Sandburg both included in this post.

https://dversepoets.com/

โ€œBend low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
*So near, a long-arm man can pick off stars,*
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.โ€

Carl Sandburg, โ€œSummer Starsโ€

summer day, Brighton beach by Edward Henry Potthast .

So now forever.

I dream of stargazing to the sound of waves,

*So, near a long-arm man can pick off stars*

Tomorrow midnight we shall meet again,

On the beach of my childhood,

Where I once paddled in waves with friends,

Where I once breakfasted with siblings,

Where once you left me Starlorn,

With your absence at 4am sunrise,

Now we shall sleep together forever,

Dear Orion my first love,

Tomorrow, I join you,

As I leave this,

Mortal sphere.

144 Words Unspoken.

Thank you msjadeli for tonight’s prompt a challenge indeed.

Coastal
Take me home

144 words unspoken!

Based on a line from a poem posted on Facebook called Notes from Uvalde, About the recent shooting well worth a read.

โ€œThese are the things they Donโ€™t tell us โ€“ girl du jour notes from Uvalde.โ€

It got me thinking about my children growing up and needing their own lives to live.

These are the things they donโ€™t tell us, 144 words unspoken. Always 144 unspoken words between children and parents as they grow. Why 144 it was all I counted before they ended their childhood. I grew in one direction and my child in another.

It is only natural as both myself and my children grow. As my offspring grow into adults, I have no need to know the things they do not tell. Just a need to know they are safe and happy.

Young adults now with a hint of the children they once were still glinting in their eyes. Hopefully still able to come to me when they need comfort. Always remembering they are safe and loved here at home. It is hard to let them go but I must let them grow beyond those144 words unspoken of childhood and home.

Amrita Pritam #poet

thank you Punham and Grace for such a wonderful prompt. took me in an unexpected direction.

Written in response. To a line from one of Amrita Pritamโ€™s poem.

โ€œLook further ahead, there between truth and falsehood,

A little empty space.โ€  Which I noticed is seventeen syllables and fits nicely as a haiku/senryu.

#Look further ahead,

There between truth and falsehood,

A little empty space.

 This inspired the following.

A little empty space,

Where love should dwell happily,

Letโ€™s make it happen.

Be truth not falsehood,

Respecting all societies,

No more prejudice.

Look further ahead,

When all treated equally,

Peace and love for all.
