snow filled mind.

snow covered memories

Snow filled mind.

Dear diary: – Here I sit with a snow filled mind.

Watching from the Window out onto snow covered branches of my memories’. It is rare for the sun to shine and highlighting face’s I once knew. Loneliness and fear my only companions now. Sometimes others are with me who I feel I should know, their faces familiar but forgotten.

Sitting in my coat watching from the blizzard that is taking my mind. Craving the company of those faces I can no longer recall. Knowing I was where I am when the snow began is of no comfort to me. Language is starting to elude me so ow I must say goodbye, as the snow blizzard now fills my waking thoughts. Sitting in my coat at the window wishing to be warm again.

I only wish I knew my name here at my end.

This is a 144-word flash fiction of how I would imagine it is like to pass from any form of dementia. It is written in memory of those who have been taken by one form or another.

It is based on the poem “the dead of winter” by Samual Menashe the line “I was where I am when the snow began” is taken from this poem. Some of the other lines echo the poem.

Thanks Merrill.@ #dversepoets pub for kick starting me with this prompt. Been meaning to write something like this for a while.

Sketchy #Quadrille.

sketch of tree
SKETCHY.

Imposter they should shout,
But they don’t.

Sketchy feeling imposter I feel,
But not to them.

Hiding under mighty oak,
Small acorn drops.

From which mighty oak grew,
Learning all the way.

Imposter they say! No, you’re not,
The poet imposter I still feel.

Hi all this evening we have been prompted here @ #dversepoetspub to write a quadrille using the word #sketch. after a visit to an open mic last night full of talented musicians playing around me. all I had to offer was some spoken word I felt like an imposter. but was very warmly received.

Green

#avacado, #jalapeno, #limericks, #squeeze

happy guacamole day #dversepoetspub.

GREEN JALAPENOS.

I once ate a Smokey Jalapeno,
Thinking I had swallowed a volcano,
Then I ate an avocado,
Still full of bravado,
Until firing of an arse torpedo.

Giving my belly a hell of a squeeze,
Making those around me sneeze,
Thanks, my kosher lunch,
Making noses bunch,
Leaving my neighbours to wheeze.

Pie day

We all have days of the mad bad kind. some swear and shout. some slam doors and make a noise. Others bake F**k B*m pie by the light of the moon. so for tonight’s #quadrille challenge at #dverse poets pub a pie has been baked by the light of the moon.

bad day pie
Pie day! #quadrille #moon

#baddaypie

By the light of the moon he bakes,
It is time, time for bad day pie.

You stir in a dollop of frustration,
Mixed with a hefty helping of what the F**K.

Best served cold, cold, cold.
To the bum who upset your day.

Two places.

this evening at #dversepoetspub we have been asked to consider time travel. there is one and only one trip I would take.

I wish
Two places.

I could,
If there is a time,
I kicked myself for not,
A time Way back when,
Back when you wanted to be,
Wanted to be in two places,
In two places at the same time,
I would go, go, go.
Hell yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s a kind of magic,
Kind of magic getting just one chance,
Just one chance, to get to a gig you missed,
Gig you missed, due to supporting family,
Supporting family always wins,
Always wins do family weddings.
I would go, go, go,
In two places at the same time,
Wanted to be in two places,
Back when you wanted to be,
A time way back when,
I kicked myself for not,
If there is a time,
I could.

The story behind this is that I was offered free tickets to see Queen live at Wembley stadium, the last time they ever played there. it would have been my first concert had I gone. But instead aged only 16 I felt obliged to attended a family wedding.
so my one and only wish to travel in time would be to go and see Queen at Wembley letting my younger self enjoy the wedding he attended.
