culture clash #limericks

This evening Punam is hosting letting us know about the language crossover words between Indian languages and English. Punam has given a list of us to choose from I have gone with Hullabaloo, Shampoo, juggernaut and bandana. so, while India and other Hindu around the world celebrate Diwali. I have gone with a light rhyming form which I enjoy the limerick.

There was a bear called Hullabaloo,

Who could not bear to use shampoo,

Spending his days eating honey,

Always sticky and finding it funny,

His mother knew not what to do.

There was yoga juggernaut called Yogi,

Who was to heavy and slow to boogie,

She Took to wearing a bandana,

Before learning to play the old Johanna,

Now when she dances, no longer a rookie.

Farewell stagnation

Farewell Stagnation.

Farewell to stagnating po-faced nations,

I’m going to join the stag nation.

Farewell to be stuck into the rat race’s rut,

I’m joining the rutting stags.

Farewell to the flood of greasy burger wrappers around my ankles,

I going to where the golden leaves of autumn blow.

Farewell the seasons of corrosion,

In this stagnating city of human parasites,

I’m heading for the wild country of oaks and red deer.

Enough is enough humanity,

Stagnating in your own corrosive juices,

The wilderness shall embrace me,

Like you could never embrace it.

Bed time stories of #Draco.

For tonight’s 144 word prosery challenge I attempted to write Draco and Persephone’s legend.

including the line given “Through the deep caves of thought I hear a voice that sings” from The chambered Nautilus by American fireside poet https://dversepoets.com/tag/oliver-wendell-holmes-sr/. At tonight’s #Dversepoetspub.

The bedtime tale of Draco and Persephone.

The home fires are burning in England after the great gas and electricity rip-off of 2022. Parents tell their children the tale of Draco and Persephone around candle lit evening meals, backlit by wood fired stoves.

Fathers deep voice normally starts with “Through the deep caves of thought I hear a voice that sings! Songs of love over many millennia.”

Then Mother all sweet and light “They sang to each other; in the letters they wrote. Fighting the venom and hate towards their kind.”

Father whispers “Draco and Persephone sold out their only child, to live forever!”

Mother asks “Can we live forever dear Father?”

Father replies “Only if our children stay awake every night. Draco and Persephone became vampires because their son was a night owl, who never slept!”

Mother “Only sleep and love can save you now, children. Goodnight my Dears”
