thank you Anne Montgomery @ #dversepoetrypub for one hell of a challenge to write Gnomic poetry. here is my first attempt. if i am not there let me know, how else will I learn.

Litter bugs!
To litter on your own doorstep,
Is to poison your child’s home,
Teaching your offspring self-harm,
Matriarch, patriarch it does not matter,
If we teach asphyxia to our young.
To litter a neighbour’s doorstep,
Is to poison their children’s home,
Teaching our neighbours of our ignorance,
African, European, Asian, South American it does not matter,
If we teach polluting to our neighbours.
Please do not litter,
The planet will not get up,
An 8th time.

This is so true! And now the line between our own doorstep and others is confounded for pollution never honors borders, flowing through water and air to spread its pernicious poisons far afield of where it originates. I think you’ve captured the spirit of gnomic poetry, thank you so much for joining us today!

This works for me, Rog’. Puts me in mind of our garbage in the ocean. In 1950, it was unthinkable; now it’s a nightmare.
