 Where are my wonderful audience?

While I hide feeling inadequate!

 Where would I find thee,

 All of thee who do not,

wish to listen,

 DO NOT SLAM my words

as scum and pomp,

Making me feel inadequate.

 Are we threatened by my simple verse?

 Where are you my mighty audience?

 On what mental plane does thee reside?

 Is it not the same abode as I?

 Where I sit alone in the dark,

Feeling inadequate.

 My words my only company,

 Others afraid of a poet’s every thought,

 Where are you the beauties of the sky?

 The moon, the stars, other planets too,

 My only audience the whiskey bottle,

 My only buddy, lover or brother be its fiery brew,

 When I sleep in the summer days’ warm embrace,

 Unable to settle in the night’s cold and grey,

My inadequacy shining like the very stars!

 Will I ever awake from drunken slumber?

to see the moon, rise with my audience?
