this evening at #dversepoetspub we have been asked to consider time travel. there is one and only one trip I would take.
Two places. I could, If there is a time, I kicked myself for not, A time Way back when, Back when you wanted to be, Wanted to be in two places, In two places at the same time, I would go, go, go. Hell yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s a kind of magic, Kind of magic getting just one chance, Just one chance, to get to a gig you missed, Gig you missed, due to supporting family, Supporting family always wins, Always wins do family weddings. I would go, go, go, In two places at the same time, Wanted to be in two places, Back when you wanted to be, A time way back when, I kicked myself for not, If there is a time, I could. © 07/11/2023 rog leach The story behind this is that I was offered free tickets to see Queen live at Wembley stadium, the last time they ever played there. it would have been my first concert had I gone. But instead aged only 16 I felt obliged to attended a family wedding. so my one and only wish to travel in time would be to go and see Queen at Wembley letting my younger self enjoy the wedding he attended.
Rog, very cool format on your poem. Maybe there will be a special setting on the time machine where you will be able to be 2 places at the same time. Freddy and Brian what a time. Freddy’s singing and strutting and Brian howling on the axe. So sorry you had to miss the concert back then. One day you’ll get a chance to be there to see it 🙂

I think you definitely split time when you travel. So yes, why not watch queen while enjoying the wedding. I loved the songlike structure of this poem. It pays homage to a great band.

And you would probably have been just as dissapointed missing the wedding if you had chosen the conert…. I had a period when I tried to catch up and see everything I missed but mostly I am glad that I saw David Bowie in 1983 when he played in Sweden (no wedding then)

Your poem made me want to sing as I read it. If you find a way, call me, I want to go too. 🙂
