Tonight at #dverse poet pub Lillian asked us to right a poem using songs that were number one on our birthday.
I was born in march of 1970 and on my tenth birthday Blondie was number one with Atomic. Which is a song I have always enjoyed. Thanks for the link to the sight it was fun it also let me know that Shakespeareās sister was number one on my 22nd birthday another song i have always enjoyed. So the question this brought up is should we Stay Atomic? #ashes

atomic glow
Humanities ashes!
Hill top spectacle of destruction
Ashes float and drift down
Joining those coverting my Ankles.
Should we Stay Atomic cherished survivors?
Man falling out with Woman,
One people falling out with another,
As one religion declines the love
of any different faith.
Stay Atomic? Really!
Setting each otherās nerves ajar!
As riots over fuel take hold,
Atomic bombs drop,
Cinders settle to late!
Ashes of humanity
settle over our homes,
City, town, village or farm! All gone!
What song shall play?
When peace is born
And comes to stay when
Atomic no longer used
for loathing and annihilation.

SO GLAD the site worked for you and you enjoyed looking through the #1 hits on your birthdays. I guess some people are having trouble with the site and adapting the prompt in other ways.
Your poem uses the song title well….and poses the problems of the world gone to the extreme. Yes…what song will be heard when peace is born — and hopefully that will be before atomic destruction, before our earth implodes because too many are ignoring climate change — etc. I’m reminded of just the phrase in the Peter, Paul and Mary song: “where have all the flowers gone?” Never mind the rest of that song…just those words.
Thanks for posting to the prompt and enjoying the site as well! š

Cool rog. Ash looks like silver-grey snow, kinda beautiful. All three of my kids were born in the 70ās ā 72, 76, 78.

I do remember growing up with the threat of nuclear war hanging over us… maybe we have gotten so used to it and have forgotten that there are missiles pointing at us all the time.
