for tonights #Dverse poets pub prompt we are talking the month of August.
Haibun Monday 8-2-21: August

August.
1986 the year I awoke my musical taste. Invisible Touch by Genesis and August by Eric Clapton my first two albums. Invisible Touch my fav of the two. But that does not work with this prompt. Sat at an open mic as the prompt comes in where else will I go.
A little album history, received my first kiss as “It’s in the way you use it played” drifted into my ears for the first time. The title “August” given because it was the month that his son Conner was born. His birth is reported to be the reason he came out from “Behind the mask” of drugs and drink.
“It’s in the way you use it.” And “behind the mask” both tracks on August.
“Tears in heaven.” Erics tribute to his son Conner when he passed away.

I remember the tragedy when Clapton lost his son. So sad. Interesting how music evokes certain times in our lives.

A great haibun! I love Claptons music… You tied the two events together very well.

Roger, I didn’t know about Clapton’s son… I’ll have to go read about that now.
I love his music – I used to have a boxset of his works many years ago when I lived in the USA.

Nice. “But that does not work with this prompt” made me chuckle.
