Hello Darkness

thanks Bjorn for an interesting challenge here @ #dversepoetspub.

The line you shared from Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet 17 ” I love you as certain dark things are to be loved.” it truly intrigued me. it also got me thinking of a version of The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkle by the rock group Disturbed. with the line “Hello Darkness my old friend.”

Darkness negated.

Hello darkness my old friend,+
Your embrace my home for so long,
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,*
Watching those who dwell in the light of love.

Every Monday the blues beckon,
Tedium’s embrace my home for so long,
I love the comfort of the home tedium supplied,
Never trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Cliché expectations always grate,
Chaos’s embrace greats my mind daily,
Loving the calm after storms chaos,
Watching the storms power from within.

I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,*
Cliché expectations always grate,
Every Monday the blues beckon,
Hello darkness my old friend.+

Never trying to keep up with the Joneses,
Watching those who dwell in the light of love.

Three little words.

Exam.
Life is no exam, live life, love,
Dance and sing, give your heart away,
Let your heart fly high like a dove,
Life is no exam, live life, love,
Do not fear to wear life’s love glove,
Your hearts one desire may well stray,
Life is no exam, live life, love,
Dance and sing, give your heart away.

Rocks.
Dance and sing, let yourself rock out,
Music uplifts, let it pluck your heartstrings.
Pleas never let there be a drought,
Dance and sing, let yourself rock out,
Prance, dance and throw yourself about,
Get music in, your being unslings,
Dance and sing, let yourself rock out,
Music uplifts, let it pluck your heartstrings.

Sketch.
Sketch this bitch, dancing all alone,
Heartbroken, but still living life,
Grief forced into learning, grown,
Sketch this bitch, dancing all alone,
A lust for life never blown,
Minds refusal to accept strife,
Sketch this bitch, dancing all alone,
Heartbroken, but still living life.

shh not tell

here at #dversepoetrypub we have been given the line “I am haunted by how much our mothers do not know” from Tina Chang’s poem love to include in a prose of 144 word.

thanks Melissa for introducing me to Tina Chang

who built?

Shh don’t tell.

A single child of a single mother I am. The last of our tribe.

Our history was oral, never written down for the sake of history.

We built pyramids and worshipped the stars.

Breaking with tradition to take a wife of human origin I must.

My mothers, grandchildren will not be of our tribe. The uprising saw to that. I am haunted by how much our mothers do not know about what is to come.

Our history will be lost to our descendants leaving nothing but confusion. Other tribes from the stars have visited but not left any DNA behind.

We had no choice our home was lost to the death of our solar system. Just two ships where here orbiting Earth, now lost in the pacific. The Bermuda triangle created to hide them.

A single child of a single mother was I.

love my place

hi all #quadrille time again at #dversepoetspub.

leake street eyes watching
Love my place.

Lies meet across office lunch,
Over eyes saying shall we,
Valiantly resisting carnal desire,
Emails revealing new feelings.

My place? can’t
Yours? can’t

Pleasant playtime extended,
Love, forever lost at home,
Always required, loneliness abated,
Clandestine affair required,
Effervescent feelings buried at work.
