Talking heads

hello fellow #dverse poets. tonight we have been invited to write for #halloween . msjadeli has asked us to tell of what irratates us. for me it is being spoken over and being put down by somebody who knows little or nothing about the subject in discusion. i have gone for the tricky option of writing this in #duodora form(my first try).

Talking, talking,

Never ever listening,

Pumpkin headed fool,

Drowning out lessons,

Stupid he became,

Goggle box nourished education,

Force fed governmental propaganda.

Talking, talking,

Over all society,

Shouting I am right,

Ghoulish his temper,

Wicked his vowels,

Carved faces in entrances teasing,

Pumpkin head disjointed, take a gander.

  1. Excellent meeting of the challenge, Rog. You used the form well. Extra candy corns for you. This figure reminds me of our former POTUS but he resembles so many others. Very neat carving on the pumpkin also.

  2. You have neatly skewered a genuine–and all too common–gremlin here. I also love the creepy pumpkin image!

  3. This is absolutely stellar writing, Rog! I resonate with; “Ghoulish his temper/Wicked his vowels/Carved faces in entrances teasing.”

  4. I think you aced the prompt, Rog! You’ve done it all: human weakness, Halloween and pumpkin carving! I hate it when people do this too. Usually those with the least to say have the loudest voices!

  5. Your duodora really nailed the ‘I know best’, bully-boy ignoramus.

    ‘Shouting I am right,
    Ghoulish his temper,
Wicked his vowels,’ – spot on.
